As part of its commitment to respecting the environment, a few months ago Kiloutou proposed a Climate Fresk to its Directors. Today, as it spreads throughout the regions, it’s clear that the fresco is having an effect!
What’s the Climate Fresk?
The aim of this workshop is to understand the causes and consequences of climate change. It works very simply: in teams, you have to arrange 42 cards in order from causes to consequences, in order to understand the path of climate change.
For example: melting ice causes water levels to rise, which in turn causes flooding, leading to lower agricultural yields and increased famine. While this scenario may seem swift and dramatic, it is nonetheless a reality and represents only a small part of what the Climate Fresk enables us to understand.
Based on the reports and graphs of the GIEC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change), the Fresk provides an opportunity to decipher the facts, while respecting the science, and to debate the issues in a sympathetic way, as well as triggering action by discussing concrete, everyday steps that can be taken to limit mankind’s impact on the planet.
The Climate Fresk at Kiloutou
After showing the Fresk to its Management Committee, the desire was felt in the network to also take part in the workshop. A Fresk was therefore organised in each of Kiloutou’s 14 regions, for each Regional Management Committee.
More than 180 teammates took part in the workshop. And the story doesn’t end there, as the teams are working on a way to roll it out even further, as close as possible to the teams in the field, but also internationally!
