Pursuing its proactive environmental strategy, Kiloutou now intends to support professionals in their efforts to reduce CO2 emissions on their worksites. To this end, the Group is launching the iMPAKT range of 3,500 electric, hybrid or dual-energy vehicles. In addition to a guide to alternative equipment and a dedicated space on the kiloutou.fr website, teammates have also been trained to advise and help professionals throughout France to adopt this equipment.
3,500 alternative materials in 4 families
Kiloutou has long been committed to the sustainable transformation of the equipment rental sector, demonstrating its willingness through numerous initiatives and concrete actions carried out over the past several years: since 2011 the Group has been carrying out a carbon footprint of rentals for its customers; CSR approach launched in 2014; renewal of the HGV fleet with alternative energy vehicles; anticipation of the Stage V regulations.
Kiloutou also realised very early on that reducing CO2 emissions linked to its indirect activities is an essential lever to help limit global warming. These activities represent nearly 94% of the Group’s total CO2 emissions, 63% of which are linked to the equipment used on the sites. In response, the Group has been making significant investments for more than 10 years to develop its offer towards alternative energy equipment. Kiloutou’s research and testing centre has also participated in the co-construction of more environmentally friendly equipment.
The iMPAKT range meets the requirements of both local authorities and private contractors who are committed to eco-worksites.
To date, it already includes 3,500 items of alternative equipment, through 50 references divided into 4 major families:
- Earthmoving with dumpers, rammers and plates, including 1.7T and 2.5T excavators and 200, 600 and 800L skid steer loaders…
- Access with, for example, 17m and 20m hybrid articulated work platforms, allowing for both indoor and outdoor operations.
- Green spaces, such as brush cutters, hedge trimmers, blowers or electric chainsaws.
- Tools, including cutting machines, air compressors, concrete mixers, floor saws, etc. While the main virtue of iMPAKT equipment is that it greatly reduces CO2 emissions (by up to 95%) when in use, it also offers other advantages such as reduced noise pollution, fewer musculoskeletal disorders, fuel savings and reduced emissions of fine particles.
iMAKT tools to remove barriers to use
To raise awareness of this equipment and to help professionals choose the solutions best suited to their needs, Kiloutou is launching an information campaign, notably by making available the Guide to alternative equipment.
More than a simple presentation of products, it aims to remove the obstacles to their use and combat preconceived ideas about their performance and functionality. Kiloutou customers can easily identify low-emission equipment and compare their performance to that of thermal equipment. This guide is educational and allows professionals to better understand environmental issues and to become familiar with the world of alternative equipment. It also covers the questions that customers ask about autonomy, performance, costs, etc.
On the kiloutou.fr website, professionals will be able to access a space dedicated to iMPAKT equipment where their technical characteristics, use cases and their advantages compared to thermal equipment are listed.
Also on the kiloutou.fr website, professionals as well as project managers, contractors and private individuals can now access a Carbon Calculator that allows them to easily visualise the carbon impact of the projects they carry out, depending on their choice of materials.
Kiloutou teammates trained for better customer support
To accelerate the use of these new technologies, Kiloutou has also committed to a training programme for its teammates so that they can provide information, advice and support on the challenges of the environmental transition as well as on the operation and performance of the new equipment.
In the case of large-scale and more complex projects, Kiloutou offers its customers a support service to help them get to grips with the new equipment. A programme for collecting customer feedback on the iMPAKT range has been set up to enable Kiloutou’s suppliers to be proactive in improving their equipment and service offers. This programme will be systematised in the coming months.
According to Pierre Knoché, Managing Director of Kiloutou France: “Faced with the accelerating expectations of our customers and the demands of their own customers in terms of reducing their carbon impact, the pace at which we are deploying our low-carbon equipment offer enables us to contribute to the ecological transformation of the sector. With a 50% increase, our investments in alternative equipment in 2021 are once again concrete proof of our desire to support our customers in the success of their worksites.
