The Kiloutou Group resolutely at the service of professionals

FranceStrategy and Finance

Since its creation in 1980, the Kiloutou Group has experienced sustained growth and is now the 4th largest European rental company in the rental market. This was confirmed in 2015 thanks to a turnover of 462 million euros (+1%) and a network of 455 branches in France, Poland and Spain.

Over the past 10 years, the Kiloutou Group’s development model has enabled it to withstand the difficult conditions of the construction market while pursuing its strategy of conquest based on three axes: consolidation through internal and external growth, diversification of its activities and development of innovative services.

During this period, the group’s market share doubled from 7% to 13% in France, the number of branches increased by 75%, and the customer offer was enriched with services such as CACES training.

In 2015, the Kiloutou Group confirmed the relevance of its integrated multi-specialist model. The network is organised with generalist and specialised agencies (Civil Engineering, Access, Modular Space, Reception) run by decentralised management. This agile model enables it to respond expertly to the needs of a wide range of professional customers.

Sales are divided between the building sector (42%), civil engineering (21%), other professional sectors (industry, services and local authorities) (31%) and individuals (6%).

On the strength of this successful transformation, the Kiloutou Group wishes to affirm and demonstrate its commitment to its professional customers in 2016. To this end, the Kiloutou Group is already deploying a series of large-scale actions. At the same time, it is setting up a new organisation to pursue its development, both in France and internationally.

Strong actions to mark its commitments to professionals

A major renewal of the equipment fleet

At the end of 2015, the Kiloutou Group launched a call for tenders to renew part of its equipment fleet. Following a logic of managing the life cycle of machines and adapting to market demands, this operation concerns nearly 4,000 large pieces of equipment, including excavators, loaders, telescopic forklifts, aerial work platforms and compacting machines.

A new kiloutou.fr website dedicated to professionals

Kiloutou’s professional customers, whether they are major accounts, independent tradesmen or SMEs, will have customisable access to the site. Thanks to practical features such as real-time access to stock availability, the logged-in person, with a personal account, will be able to manage their orders at any time according to their specific price conditions, book their equipment rentals, manage their projects thanks to their saved rental basket, be in contact with their favorite branches, etc.

Continued commitment to responsibility and operational excellence

In 2015, the Kiloutou Group published the first CSR Report in its history, presenting all its social, environmental and economic initiatives in favour of responsible behaviour.

These three pillars of CSR are now part of IMPACT, the business standard on which Kiloutou’s quality management and certification are based, confirming the group’s desire to permanently involve all 455 branches and 3,500 teammates in this virtuous approach.

At the same time, the Kiloutou Group is reinforcing its actions to make the practices of construction professionals safer, in particular through a partnership with two reference entities in the field of prevention and safety: the OPPBTP and IRIS-ST.

A new visual identity that illustrates its commitment to professionals

Kiloutou’s new visual identity is in line with the Group’s development: modernity, focus on professional customers (94% of turnover), position as the 4th largest European rental company.

Through this new logo, Kiloutou expresses the balance between its two strong points: Professionalism and the human dimension. The brand is gaining in power to reinforce its status as a reference brand while confirming its attachment to its customers, partners and teams: “People at the Centre”.

This logo creates a powerful, unifying and differentiating symbol.

The design work was carried out with the assistance of the AKDV agency.

Acceleration of national and international development

In parallel with these large-scale actions, which demonstrate its commitment to professionals, the Kiloutou Group will continue its development in France and abroad.

On 7 January, Kiloutou finalised the acquisition of Aquiloc, a key player in equipment rental in the South West of France with a network of 23 branches and a workforce of over 150 people. This transaction enables Kiloutou to enhance its service offering for its customers and to play an active role in the concentration of the French market.

Outside France, the two countries where the group is present, Poland (34 branches) and Spain (7 branches), should see the extension of their respective networks in 2016 through the opening of new branches, thus strengthening the territorial coverage.

A new organisation to support the group’s development

To support its development in France and internationally, the Kiloutou Group has decided to change its managerial organisation by providing each country with its own adapted means and resources:

  • Xavier du Boÿs, as Chairman and CEO, oversees the entire group.
  • Olivier Colleau, Network Director since 2011, has been appointed Managing Director France with the mission of continuing the growth of the national network, currently number 2 in the French rental market.
  • Patrick Rybicki, as Managing Director of Development and International, oversees the foreign subsidiaries and international development.
  • Alain Loeb, as Managing Director of Group Support, oversees finance, IT and legal.
