GroupStrategy and Finance Kiloutou: solid 2021 results and confirmed growth momentum

After being affected by Covid-19 lockdowns in 2020, the Kiloutou Group achieved revenue of €793 million in 2021, an increase of

22.7%. This solid performance is encouraging as regards 2022, and was announced at the final of the Kiloutou Technical Cup, an in-house competition that highlights and rewards the expertise of the Group’s team members.

Growth momentum restored

The construction sector was boosted by the economic recovery in 2021, and Kiloutou’s solid results show both the Group’s resilience at a time of crisis and its ability to bounce back. Kiloutou restored its growth momentum, with revenue up 22.7% at €793 million and EBITDA up 28% at €258 million, very close to its pre-pandemic level. The Group intends to continue its growth strategy, combining both organic growth and acquisitions, in 2022.

In early 2022, Kiloutou has already acquired GSV, a leading Danish equipment hire company with a 22% share of its national market and annual revenue of €130 million. This is a major transaction that strengthens Kiloutou’s position as Europe’s third-largest generalist equipment hire company and boosts its development in Europe, increasing the proportion of its revenue generated outside France from 18% to 30%. Including acquisitions made in 2021 and GSV in 2022, the Group now has annual pro forma revenue of €950 million.

Profitable investment in sustainable equipment

As a specialist in improving worksite performance, Kiloutou attracted growing interest from its construction partners throughout 2021 by using its expertise more than ever to increase their productivity, enhance safety and prevent accidents, particularly with its KARE range, as well as reducing their environmental impact. In 2021, the Group launched its new IMPAKT range, which already includes over 50 types of earth-moving and lifting equipment and machines with alternative drive systems (100% electric, hybrid or dual-fuel). Kiloutou has ambitious targets in terms of supporting the construction industry’s sustainable transition, and intends to double its investment in sustainable equipment in 2022.

Target of recruiting 1,000 people in 2022

To support its growth, Kiloutou intends to recruit 1,000 people in France in 2022. These 1,000 new team members will consist of technicians, salespeople and truck drivers, adding to the workforce of some 6,000 already working within the Group and its various branches in France and Europe. Kiloutou is ramping up its growth strategy through an innovative recruitment and continuing vocational training policy, which ensures the integration and professional development of each team member.

Final of the kiloutou technical cup

Kiloutou’s commitment to developing in-house expertise is shown by its Technical Cup, an annual competition for its technicians that was first held in 2021. The Kiloutou Technical Cup involves local and regional rounds and a national final, and is a valuable opportunity to bring together its technical teams, share best practice and celebrate their skills. On 7 April 2022, the winning three-person team was crowned after five tests assessing different key aspects of a Kiloutou technician’s everyday work, i.e. control, equipment maintenance, equipment preparation, diagnostics, and compliance with safety and accident prevention rules.
