Innovation Kiloutou launches YOUSE, the first digital solution for sharing equipment

Kiloutou is now offering its customers YOUSE, the 1ʳᵉ digital solution for the construction and industry sector, which enables equipment fleets to be shared and managed securely and responsibly. Reserved for rentals of more than 6 months, YOUSE helps to optimise the fleet of equipment on a single site and enables customers to amortise their costs and reduce their carbon footprint.

The YOUSE solution is a response to two factors:

  • The coexistence, on the same site, of similar machines hired from multiple hirers by different site participants. This widespread practice leads to additional costs, congestion and higher CO2 emissions generated by their transport;
  • The equipment present on a site (industrial or construction site) is often used by subcontractors, with or without authorisation. This situation has a direct impact on site productivity: operators waste more time looking for the machine, making sure it is ready for use, etc. Furthermore, this practice creates two major risks: the lack of traceability makes it difficult to establish responsibility in the event of breakage, and the absence of insurance makes it impossible to cover damage to property or people.


To solve these two problems, Kiloutou has developed the first equipment management application that makes it easy to share equipment between people working on the same site. YOUSE organises the responsibilities of each party to ensure the safe and optimised use of shared equipment: with this solution, Kiloutou’s customers can now plan the use of their equipment between in-house staff and service providers.

The YOUSE application is the result of close collaboration with customers. Two test phases were carried out in 2023, during which “customer-testers” were able to try out the application in the field. For their part, the Kiloutou teams gathered their experiences and then adjusted YOUSE to meet their needs more effectively.

YOUSE is initially available on Kiloutou machines equipped with telematic boxes, i.e. mainly earthmoving and lifting machines (mini-excavators, loaders, telescopic platforms, etc.). At the customer’s request, the use of YOUSE can also be extended to other equipment in the Kiloutou range. All that is required is the installation of a telematic box on the machine.

Simple to use and personalised support

The customer has access to a platform where he can view the entire rented fleet, add the service providers with whom he wishes to share each piece of equipment, and manage their access to the machines. In the event of an accident, each user is covered by insurance.

On a day-to-day basis, an application available on Android and Apple makes it easy to book and use the equipment:

  • An “Agenda” function lets you reserve a time slot for use. Once the machine has been booked, each user can unlock the equipment reserved for their use with a magnetic card;
  • Shared hardware monitoring provides personalised tracking of usage. It provides a list of the different users and precise information on the inventory of fixtures (carried out before and after each use), opening up the possibility of re-invoicing for its use.

Throughout the rental period, the designated equipment administrator acts in complete autonomy. Kiloutou employees, experts in the YOUSE solution, travel to train users throughout France to help them share equipment and manage change.

Optimising the use of equipment to reduce environmental impact and site operating costs

The YOUSE solution, an innovative proposal unique in France, reflects the Kiloutou Group’s commitment to meeting the essential needs of its customers. It guarantees :

  • Efficiency: YOUSE makes it possible to reduce “dead time” linked to unsupervised use of machines (searching for the machine on site, equipment unloaded or without fuel, damaged equipment), while facilitating team coordination and ensuring everyone’s responsibility;
  • Savings: on worksites in particular. Pooling equipment reduces overall rental costs and the cost of transporting equipment. What’s more, by making drivers more responsible, they can monitor usage and reduce breakage of tracked equipment;
  • Sustainability: by reducing the number of items of equipment hired, YOUSE helps to reduce the CO2 emissions associated with transporting equipment to the site;
  • Safety: a site that is congested with a large number of machines involves issues of traffic flow and visibility for other equipment and people. YOUSE’s optimisation of the number of vehicles on a site therefore has a direct impact on the risk of collisions between vehicles and between vehicles and pedestrians.


The solution is available for between €100 and €150/month/machine.
