Kiloutou Group in 2013: growth in line with the development strategy

GroupStrategy and Finance

In 2013, the Kiloutou Group continued its growth momentum in a rental market that remained relatively stable and a contracting construction market.

Continued growth in an almost stable market

The Kiloutou Group’s growth is reflected in a turnover of €471 million (+2.4% vs. 2012) achieved through 433 branches (414 in 2012) thanks to 3,500 teammates (+6% vs. 2012). The Kiloutou Group is thus strengthening its position as the 4th largest rental company in the European rental market.

The Kiloutou Group’s development policy, which has enabled it to triple its turnover in 10 years, continued in 2013 with:

  • The progression of its organic growth (6 branches openings),
  • The continuation of strategic acquisitions, in particular Most Location, a player in the access equipment rental market,
  • The consolidation of acquisitions made in 2012 (Starlift and Urbaparc), significantly strengthening its positions in the civil engineering and access equipment sectors.

2013 also saw the Kiloutou Group take its first international position with the launch of two branches in Poland, located in Warsaw.

Establishment of a branch organisation consistent with the development strategy

The major acquisitions made in recent years in high-capacity markets (BMLoc, Top’Loc, Urbaparc, etc.), supplemented by those of Trefoulet and Most Location in 2013, have made it possible to set up, as of this year, an organisation that is clearly defined in the Kiloutou Group’s development strategy: the creation of an integrated multi-specialist group.

With the desire to serve all customers, the Kiloutou Group is now in a position to offer equipment and service solutions adapted to the needs of each customer thanks to :

  • A network of different branches, both generalist and specialist, under the same brand name,
  • The offer of specific and sharp expertise,
  • The synergy of the Group’s services and best practices.

Supported by the Group’s strategy, this ambition enables it to offer an organisation of branches in different formats:

  • 330 generalist branches (Kiloutou),
  • 70 branches specialising in civil engineering (Kiloutou TP),
  • 30 branches specialising in access equipment (Kiloutou Elevation)
  • 3 branches specialising in event organisation (Kiloutou Events).

While maintaining a decentralised organisation to help decision-making close to the field, the Group completes this organisation by providing its customers with multi-channel access to all its expertise thanks to all the services developed over the last few years: MarketPlace available on the Internet and its customer extranet, UnikCall, customer training, KGS, Events, etc.

Strengthening responsible commitments

The Kiloutou Group’s ambition is to move from being an equipment rental company to a complete partner. To achieve this goal, the group relies on a strong conviction that has been its DNA since its creation: to help its clients succeed by giving them access to the necessary equipment under the best possible conditions.

In addition to the strength of its network and the quality of the teammates who contribute daily to the success of their customers, this conviction has been reflected for several years in concrete responsible commitments aimed at prevention and safety in the workplace, environmental protection and the quality of equipment, guaranteed by internal control and a requirement for progress with equipment manufacturers.

In 2013, the Kiloutou Group strengthened its actions serving its commitments by:

  • Consolidating its offer of innovative equipment combining ease of use, productivity and economy,
  • Developing customer training through an expanded offer of CACES certification through 16 different programmes,
  • Opening a technical training school adapted to the rental business and designed to promote the integration of young people into professional life,
  • Developing a structured Corporate Social Responsibility approach aimed at deploying all of the group’s actions in favour of sustainable development (carbon footprint of equipment, participation in the Global Compact, waste recovery, etc.).

Resources to match its ambitions: to remain the best rental company in its market

In 2014, Xavier du Boÿs, the Chairman and CEO of the Kiloutou Group, will continue the development policy undertaken with the ambition of consolidating its lead and continuing to give value to rental.

This will be achieved through the progressive development of the Group’s national market share and its international activity, the acceleration of its customer training policy, the optimisation of processes, tools and work systems and finally, the pursuit of its capacity to innovate.

With a solid shareholder base that has once again proven its ability to resist and control debt during the recent crises, the Kiloutou Group has the resources to match its ambitions.
