The Kiloutou Group posted revenue of €1.2 billion in 2023, up 18%. The French group, which operates in 7 European countries, has confirmed its growth momentum in all its markets. In an economic and geopolitical context that remains unsettled in 2023 and is causing difficulties for the construction and public works sector, the Kiloutou Group is demonstrating the relevance, solidity and agility of its business model.
2023: another record year in a turbulent economic environment
One year after passing the milestone of €1 billion, the Kiloutou Group is maintaining its strong growth momentum, with revenue of €1.2 billion, up 18% thanks to solid organic growth of 6% and strong external growth.
In France, the rental company posted revenue of €759m, up 8% on 2022. In the 6 other European countries where the group operates – Poland, Spain, Germany, Italy, Denmark and Portugal – Kiloutou ended the year with revenue of €448m and growth of 42%, boosted by acquisitions.
In 2023, Kiloutou strengthened its position as Europe’s 3rd largest rental company and its penetration of the various markets through several acquisitions, particularly in France (Bernard Location, in April), Germany (Uka-Hauke, in August) and Spain (Valser, in December), carried out in parallel with the opening of some fifteen new branches across the continent. The Group, leader on the Danish and Portuguese markets, currently generates more than 37% of its business outside France (vs. 18% in 2021).
Kiloutou’s international dimension is also reflected in the deployment of its environmental roadmap. At group level, which is pursuing its voluntary transition programme, a third of investments in 2023 have been earmarked for the purchase of low-emission equipment. Kiloutou, which in France has brought together its range of low-carbon equipment in a dedicated iMPAKT range, aims to gradually roll out a low-emission range in its various markets from 2024. At the same time, Kiloutou is pursuing its project to decarbonise its company fleet (service, breakdown and delivery vehicles): the first European rental company to integrate a 32T electric heavy goods vehicle into its delivery fleet in the summer of 2023, Kiloutou expects that 27% of its vehicle renewals in 2024 will be decarbonised.
In 2023, Kiloutou has also reaffirmed its ambitions for digital development, with the launch of new and innovative services (Youse, Konnect), the complete overhaul of its kiloutou.fr website and the enhancement of its digital services available through the MyKiloutou customer area. The fluidity sought between the digital experience and the in-branch experience is bearing fruit: turnover generated on digital channels in France has risen by 54% in one year.
Agility is the keyword for 2024
2024 is shaping up to be a year rich in opportunities, but also in challenges. The economic environment is still marked by inflation and the emergence of sectoral and geopolitical crises likely to disrupt the construction and civil engineering companies.
Faced with these challenges, equipment rental is proving to be a real solution for construction companies: firstly, by enabling them to optimise their cost structures and, secondly, by offering them low-carbon equipment that is still more expensive to buy.
In the same way, the Kiloutou Group will be stepping up its diversification by opening specialist branches and strengthening its activity in various growth sectors, including industry, energy and services.
The year 2023 will have been as turbulent as it was remarkable: the Kiloutou Group has achieved a record revenue of €1.2 billion, up 18% on 2022. This performance confirms the solidity of our business model and the relevance of the strategy we have adopted. In 2024, we are maintaining our ambitions to grow in all our markets, but also to decarbonise our business, with the agility and pragmatism that characterise us and enable us to grasp the right opportunities. I would like to congratulate all the Group’s 7,000 team members who have worked and continue to work towards this success
Olivier Colleau, Chief Executive Officer of the Kiloutou Group
