The csr approach: what are the challenges for rental?

A joint interview with Gérard Déprez, Chief Executive Officer of Loxam Group and Olivier Colleau, Chief Executive Officer of Kiloutou Group, by Jean-Noël Onfield, Editor-in-Chief of Chantiers de France.

“Although the notion of CSR appeared in the 1960s in France, it is only recently that it has taken centre stage in company strategies. The development of the ISO 26000 “Social Responsibility” standard in 2010, and the Pact law more recently, attest to the extent to which the phenomenon has grown over the years.

Corporate social responsibility obviously concerns the social measures that any company can implement. It also includes the various environmental and economic approaches within organisations. The contribution of rental companies is consubstantial to the challenges of sustainable development and the circular economy. Through the implementation of sustainable and ethical actions integrated into their operations, the acquisition of “virtuous” equipment and their optimised operation, rental companies contribute to the protection of the environment, employee well-being and quality of service.

What is the purpose of a CSR approach in the rental industry? How to identify priorities? How can it be deployed in France and internationally? What are the implications for the equipment fleet? What can be done to guarantee its effectiveness and share it with all stakeholders? How can we measure and monitor our strategy, but also how can we promote it internally and externally?

In this context, how can we better understand the economic, social and environmental challenges, the most important of which is the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions?”
